When I was 6 years old, I made a major life decision while watching the Miami Hurricanes clobber Florida A&M in the Orange Bowl (RIP). I decided that I would attend the University of Miami. I did just that from 2011-2015 and as a broadcast journalism major, I got a wide range of experiences in print, radio, and broadcasting.
Television
UMTV, the University’s television station, provided me the opportunity to get hands-on experience in every aspect of television. I anchored UMTV’s sports program, Sportsdesk, for 2 semesters in addition to producing packages, providing on-air analysis, and assisting with the show’s production. In my senior year, Sportsdesk won a national prize for best college sports program.
I also learned how to write, edit, and produce online content as a host for Sportsbreak, a 90-second sports news show.
